Breastfeeding? Studies Show That New Moms Can Still Have That Occasional Drink

Good news for all the breastfeeding mamas out there! It is perfectly okay for you to have an occasional alcoholic drink and still breastfeed your baby!

Most people think that after you have an alcoholic drink you need to “pump-and-dump”; however, studies are showing that that this isn’t necessary. If you are drinking in moderation, very little alcohol will get into your breastmilk, and it peaks around 45 minutes after consumption. The best course of action would be to have a drink or two and then wait at least an hour before feeding your baby.

So what exactly does this mean? This means that you should go enjoy a glass of wine or champagne and not worry about it having any kind of effect on your baby.
